PLN to get additional 150 MW power supply for S. Sumatra

State electricity firm PLN said Thursday three combined cycle power plants in South Sumatra with combined capacity of 154 MW would commence commissioning on August 20 as part of effort to secure electricity supply for national sport games that would be held in the province.

The three plants, according to PLN director Ali Herman Ibrahim, are Palembang Timur, Indralaya and Kaji, with capacity of 100 MW, 40 MW and 14 MW, respectively. He said that additional capacity of 50 MW from Palembang Timur would enter South Sumatra grid six months later.

Natural gas requirement fro the plants is supplied by Medco E&P?s gas fields in Southern part of Sumatra. (godang)
