State-owned electricity firm PT PLN expects to start getting 210 MW of power supply from state-owned North Sumatra-based aluminum producer PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) in April, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.
The paper quoted PLN President Director Sofyan Basir as saying that the power supply from Inalum is needed to help temporarily resolve power shortage in North Sumatra pending the completion of a number of power plant projects in the province.
He said that once the power plant projects are completed next year, PLN would no longer need the power supply from Inalum.
Sofyan said that the purchase price of the Inalum electricity was about 9 US cents per Kwh. (*)
