PLN to halt operation of ten power plants

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN would halt tentatively the operation of ten power plants in Java during religious holidays because of the decreasing power demand.
General Manager of Power Distributing and Regulating Center Java-Bali Muljo Adjie said on Wednesday that the suspended plants have a total generating capacity of 5,055 megawatts (MW).
The ten power plants are Suralaya Unit 2 coal-fired power plant which has a generating capacity of 400 MW, Tanjung Jati Unit 2 coal-fired power plant (660 MW), Cilacap Unit 2 coal-fired power plant (300 MW), Paiton Unit 7 coal-fired power plant (645 MW), Paiton Unit 5 coal-fired power plant (610 MW), Tambak Lorok Block 1 and 2 combined-cycled power plant (480 MW each), Grati block 1 combined-cycled power plant (460 MW), Muara Tawar block 1 combined-cycled power plant (580 MW) and Gresik block 2 combined cycled power plant (440 MW).
