State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will hold a bidding for coal companies to supply two power plants, namely the 2x100 MW Tenayan power plant in Riau and a 2x100 MW power plant in Teluk Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.

Helmi Najamudin, Head of Coal Division at PLN, told Petromindo.com on Tuesday PLN is preparing the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the bidding.

"We may start the bidding process in two months," he said adding that PLN will prioritize coal companies located near each of the power plant and have coal that meets the specifications of the plants. He added that only companies which are on the domestic market obligation (DMO) list and have Clean and Clear (CnC) status from the government will be invited to the tender.

"The two power plants will need about 800,000 tons of coal per year respectively," he said.
