PLN to hold discussion forum on S.Sumatra mine-mouth power projects

PT PLN (Persero), a utility company owned by the State of the Republic of Indonesia intends to implement the Sumsel 9 and Sumsel 10 mine mouth coal-fired independent Power Producer (IPP) projects in South Sumatra (the ?Projects?). The Projects will have an installed capacity of up to 1,800 MW. PT PLN (Persero) has appointed The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), as its lead transaction advisor for the competitive tendering of the Projects

The Projects will be implemented based on the Presidential Regulation 67/2005 as amended by Presidential Regulation 13/2010 and the latest by Presidential Regulation 56/2011, the legal framework for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in infrastructure projects, and under which an IPP project will be eligible for government support.

PLN and HSBC are flow extending an invitation to potential investors, project developers and coal mining companies (holders of mining licenses) to a Discussion Forum for an exposition of the Projects. PLN and HSBC have received several expressions of interest from international and Indonesian developers to finance, construct and operate the Project. A prequalification of project developers is planned to be issued shortly as part of the bidding process.
