State-owned electricity company PT PLN is set to hold tender for the 2x600 MW South Sumatra 9 (Sumsel 9) and 1x600 MW South Sumatra 10 (Sumsel 10) mine mouth power plant projects next month, Kontan reported on Tuesday.
The paper quoted PLN Procurement Director Amin Subekti as saying that tender participants are expected to submit their bids in the middle of May.
He said that PLN will evaluate the bids in two months to determine the winners.
The bidders will be divided into two categories: those having low-rank coal reserves of below 3,000 Kcal/kg, and those having high calorie coal of above 3,000 Kcal/kg.
Amin said that the projects are guaranteed by the government via its investment firm PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia.
If financial closure can be made within six months, construction of the long-delayed project can start at the end of this year, Amin said. (*)
