State-owned electricity company PLN will hold tender for three power plants projects worth US$3.45 billion under the public private partnership scheme in the second half of this year, Bisnis Indonesia reported Tuesday.

The three power plants included the South Sumatra 9 and 10 mine mouth power plants, and the Karama hydro power plant.

?The South Sumatra 9 and 10 mine mouth power plants will be put on tender soon. We have just completed the request for proposal. The PQ (pre-qualification) not yet. We?re making preparation for the tender of the Karama hydro power plant. We plan tender to be held in the second semester,? said PLN President Director Nur Pamudji.

The three power plant projects are targeted to be operational by 2018.

Nur said that the Karama hydro power plant project was proposed by PT Sulbar Group and China Gezhoumba Group. It is still undecided whether the two companies will get the right to match in the tender process.

But he said that the three projects will obtain government guarantee in terms of political and financing risks.(*)
