PLN to hold tender to finance construction of 3,000-MW power plants

State electricity firm PLN will open tender to finance the construction of four coal-fired power plants with total capacity of 3,000-MW end of this month, a government official said on Thursday.

Chairman of 10,000-MW Power Plant Development Acceleration Program Yogo Pratomo told reporters that the tender would be opened to find financiers to provide US$2 billion loan to finance the projects.

Yogo said local and foreign financial institutions would be invited to participate in the tender.

Yogo added that the fund would be used to construct 2 x300-MW Pacitan power in East Java, 3x300-MW Pelabuhan Ratu power plant in Banten, 3x300-MW Teluk Naga power plant, also in Banten and 2x200 Tanjung Awar-Awar power plant in East Java.(bernard/godang)
