Three diesel-fired power generating units with capacity of 200 kW have arrived in Krayan Village, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Province, to increase power supply in the country?s border area with Malaysia.

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said in a statement on Wednesday that the company is currently waiting for the arrival of supporting equipment before installation of the generating units.

The company said that poor road condition has been a major challenge in bringing in the power plant units and equipment from Malaysia.

PLN said that once the power generating units are up and running, the company would be able to provide 24-hour supply of electricity in Krayan. Electricity supply in the village currently runs only for 12 hours a day.
