PLN to install undersea transmission lines in NTT

State utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is planning to install undersea transmission lines to connect smaller islands in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"We are preparing to install submarine cable to distribute electricity to small islands," said General Manager of PT PLN for NTT province Ignatius Rendroyoko was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia in Kupang Thursday (13/06).
These will include small islands near larger islands of Timor, Flores and Sumba.
In Flores island, PLN will install submarine cable that will link Labuan Bajo town and Bajo Island as well as Seraya Kecil island, which are about 300-400 km from Labuan Bajo coastline
In Timor, PLN will install submarine cable that will link Timor and Semau Island in Kupang Regency, which is about 3-4 km from Kupang city as well as around Rote island.
Rendroyoko said to realize the plan, PLN has recently conducted training for PLN staffs about submarine cable in Kupang.
The move is part of PLN's efforts to increase the electricity coverage ratio in NTT, which is still below 90 percent. (*)
