PLN to issue prequalification tender for 3 power projects in eastern provinces

State electricity company PLN will issue in January 2004 a prequalification tender for the construction of three coal-fired power plants in eastern provinces, a company official told Petromindo.Com Wednesday.
The power projects will be located in Palu (Central Sulawesi), Kupang (East Nusatenggara) and Mataram (West Nusatenggara) with capacity of 16 megawatts (MW), 30 MW and 50 MW, respectively, said Ali Herman Ibrahim, PLN?s director of primary energy and commerce.
The plants will use coal from East Kalimantan and South Kalimantan.
Meanwhile, PLN president director Eddie Widiono said Tuesday his company had approached several foreign and national banks to finance the power projects including Indonesia?s Bank Mandiri, Bank Bukopin and Bank BNI. He did not He did not mention the names of foreign banks, however.(godang)
