State owned electricity company PLN will launch soon a tender for marine transportation of compressed natural gas (CNG) from certain gas fields to the company?s gas-fired power plants, Kontan reported on Monday.

Suryadi Mardjoeki said in Jakarta last week that the CNG marine carrier would, for example, transport CNG from the Terang Sirasun Batur gas field to PLTGU Gresik gas fired power plant with a capacity of about 3 to 6 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

?We hope the auction can be launched in August. As it is a pilot project, we expect it to be successful,? he said.

He said that the company was discussing with the potential bidders about the cooperation scheme in the CNG marine transportation. ?We are still discussing whether it can be carried out under build, operate own (BOO) or Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT)) or under a joint operation,? he added. (*)
