PLN to launch tender for Pasuruan power project

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN schedules to launch the the tender for the contract to build a combined-cycle power plant in Pasuruan, East Java, in August a company official told Petromindo.Com Monday.

?The power plant will have a capacity of 500 megawatt (MW) and the tender for the construction of the project will be launched along with or after the launching of the tender for the 600 MW coal-fired power plant in Cirebon,? said PLN?s director of primary energy and power generation Ali Herman Ibrahim.

Herman said PLN was in negotiations with Husky Energy to secure gas supply of around 50 million cubic feet per day to the power plant.

Husky operates two gas fields, Madura BD and MDA, of the Madura Straits PSC. The Madura BD has probable reserves of 212 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas and 12.2 million barrels of natural gas liquids, while the MDA field has gas resources of 150 bcf. (godang)
