PLN to open tender for 4,000-MW mine-mouth power plants next year

State electricity firm PLN said it would open tender to develop 4,000-MW mine-mouth power plant in South Sumatra next year.

Director Nur Pamudji said on Monday that the some portion of the power plant will be tendered under independent power producer (IPP) scheme and some will be built and operated by PLN.

He said that some of the electricity produced from the proposed plants will be supplied to Java through transmission line.

PLN has issued tender to develop a total of 2,000 MW of mine-mouth power plant in four locations in Sumatra this year under IPP scheme. Pamudji said that electricity produced from the power plants will be used to ease the island?s electricity shortage. (denny)
