PLN to open tender for Aceh power plant

Saturday, August 4 2012 - 02:51 AM WIB

State owned electricity company PLN will open a tender for the construction of a gas-fired power plant with a capacity of 200 MW in Aceh in September this year, Investor Daily reported on Saturday.

The new power plant which will be built with total cost of about US$200 million will replace the 150 MW-diesel power plant which is now still in operation, the Head of Fuel Division of PLN, Suryadi Mardjoeki said

He said that if the tender for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) could be carried out as scheduled, the plant could begin commercial operation next year.

?The construction of a gas-fired power plant is relatively fast because it does not require as many infrastructure facilities like a coal-fired power plant,? he said.

Suryadi said the operation of the gas fired power plant is in line with the completion of the modification of the Arun LNG plant into a receiving gas terminal.(*)
