State power firm PLN will on Dec. 20 start operating its Talang Dukuh gas-fired power plant in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra that has capacity of 20 megawatts, oil and gas producer PT Exspan Nusantara said Thursday.

?Exspan will supply 10 million standard cubic feet per day of gas to the power facility from its Kaji/Semoga field,? Exspan president director Darmoyo Atmodjo told reporters.

According to Darmoyo, Exspan?s gas for the power plant will sell for US$1.15 per million British thermal unit (MMBTU) and will be raised in case PLN increases the basic price of its electricity.

The Kaji/Semoga field is located in Rimau production sharing contract. In July, PLN agreed to purchase gas worth US$30 million from flared gas in the field under a six-year contract.

PLN president director Eddie Widiono will dedicate the operation of the power plant. (godang)
