State owned electricity company PLN will overhaul two power generating units of the Batubara Asam-Asam steam power plant in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan for three months beginning April 1, Kompas reported on Friday.
General Manager of PLN?s office for South and Central Kalimantan, Purnomo Willy said in Banjarmasin on Thursday that the power units that would be overhauled have the capacity to produce 65 MW and 60 MW respectively.
He said that the overhaul would reduce the power supply in the two provinces by 50 percent but consumers both households and corporate buyers could understand about the need of the overhaul. "They understand and some of them will use their own power generators to meet the power shortage," he said.
The overhaul would be the second for the two plants since the first overhaul that was carried out early 2000. (*)
