State owned electricity company PLN has agreed to provide 300 MW power supply to support the operation of nickel smelting plants which will be built by PT Bumi Modern Sejahtera (BMS) in Sulawesi and East Java.

PLN?s commitment is contained in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) document signed in Jakarta on Friday by Nur Pamudji, the President Director of PLN, and Davis Honoris, the President Director of PT BMS, which is engaged in mining activities.

PLN promised to provide a special service for BMS? smelters to ensure that there is no power supply disruption which could affect the smelters? operations.

?PLN and BMS will also hold a meeting to discuss the business to business implication of the agreement, such as to determine a special tariff,? Nur said after the signing of the MoU.

Several companies including Bosowa Metal Industri (nickel smelting plant), Krakatau Posco (steel smelting plant) and PT Hankook Indonesia (tire plant) have earlier signed similar agreements with PLN.
