Thursday, October 26 2017 - 02:23 AM WIB

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has decided to redeploy a 60 MW marine vessel power plant (MVPP) initially planned to increase power supply on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), a local news portal reported on Wednesday.

Public Relations Head of PLN NTB regional office, Rachmawan Primadya told Lombokita.com that the decision to redeploy the MVPP, leased from Turkey-based Karpowership, is made because Lombok has already enjoyed power surplus.

With installed capacity of 294 MW, and peak load of 225 MW in the evening, the Lombok Island has power surplus of 69 MW. The power supply is set to further increase once the 150 MW Peaker Lombok PLTGU combined-cycle power plant starts operation in 2019.

He said that the MVPP will be redeployed somewhere in Kalimantan. (*)
