PLN to repeat tender of PLTU Jawa-5 project

State owned electricity company PT PLN will repeat the tender for the 2x1,000 MW PLTU Jawa-5 coal-fired power plant project following recent suspension, Kontan reported on Monday.

The paper quoted PLN Director for Procurement Supangkat Iwan Santoso as saying that the tender will be held this year.

"We'll retender, and is currently making preparations," he said.

PLN earlier this month suspended the tender process for the PLTU Jawa 5 power plant project to be located in Serang, Banten, without giving clear reasons.

At the time, two consortia were finally competing for the project including a consortium comprising of China Oceanwide Shanghai Electric and PT.Pembangkitan Jawa Bali, and consortium of PT Sumber Segara Prima Jaya, CNEC,and PT Wijaya Karya Tbk.

Supangkat said that in the upcoming repeat tender, PLN may ease the requirement for bidders to deposit 10 percent of the investment requirement following request from local investors, who considered the 10 percent deposit requirement as too large.

He added that participants in the previous tender will be allowed to participate in the new tender. (*)
