PLN?s president director Fahmi Mochtar said in Jakarta on Thursday that the power plants which would be offered to independent power producers would have a combined capacity of about 4,000 MW.

He said that the funds from the sales of the new power plants would be used to finance the second stage of the crash program which would absorb investment of between $13 billion and $14 billion.

PLN is currently building a dozen coal-fired power plants under the crash program which is expected to provide additional power supply of 10,000 MW. The second stage of the crash program will begin when the first stage is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. (godang)
