State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to sell part of the electricity output to be produced by the 2x10 MW Holtekam coal-fired power plant in Papua to Vanimo City in Papua New Guinea.

?Once the power plant is completed, we?ll sell 2 MW (of the output) to Vanimo,? General Manager of PLN operation in Papua and West Papua, Robert Sitorus told Antara news agency on Thursday.

The power plant is expected to be completed in September of this year.

Robert said that PLN will develop transmission network until the border area of Jayapura to facilitate the selling of the electricity to Vanimo, which is a follow-up of recent bilateral talks between the Indonesian and Papua New Guinea governments to increase economic cooperation between the two nations.

Robert, however, said that there has been no agreement yet on the electricity selling price, stressing that PLN wants to obtain profit from the transaction. (*)
