PLN to sign 19 electricity projects

State owned electricity firm PT PLN will sign 19 electricity projects in Cidahu, Subang, West Java on Wednesday (tomorrow).

The projects include Engineering Procurement Contracts (EPC) for construction of five new coal-fired power plants, three gas purchase agreements, two loan agreements, nine power purchase agreements. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and several governmental officials will attend the signing ceremony.

The five coal-fired power plants that will be built under the EPC agreements are:
? PLTU Banten I, which will be built in Cilegon with the capacity of 1 x 625 MW by a consortium of China National Technical Import and Export Corporation, China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation, Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute and PT Rekayasa Industri, with total investment of US$428.79 million.
? PLTU Banten II, in Labuhan, Pandegelang, Banten with a capacity of 2 x 316 MW by the consortium of Chengda Engineering Corporation and Truba Jurong Engineering with total investment of about US$492.94 million.
? PLTU Jabar I, in Indramayu, West Java with a capacity of 3 x 330 MW by the consortium of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach), China National Electric Equipment Corporation (CNEEC) and PT Penta Adi Samudera with an investment of about US$863.22 million.
? PLTU Jatim II, in Paiton, Probolinggo, East Java with the capacity of 1 x 660 MW by the consortium of Harbin Power Engineering and PT Mitra Selaras Hutama Energy, with an investment of about US$466.25 million.
? PLTU Rembang, in Sluke, Rembang, Central Java with a capacity of 2 x 316 MW by the consortium of Zelan, PT Prianamaya and Tronoh with total investment about $558 million.

The three gas purchase agreements include the contracts between PLN and Medco E&P for PLTGU Muara Tawar with a contract value of about US$430 million, between PLN and Total E&P Indonesia and Inpex Corporation for PLTG Bontang, and between PLN and Pertamina, HESS (Indonesia-Jambi Merang) Limited, Pasific Oil and Gas Limited for PLTGU Muara Tawar, with a contract value of $1.18 billion.

PLN will also sign an agreement for a US$35 million loan from JBIC (under ODA scheme) for the construction of the Lahendong Geothermal with Sumitomo Corporation and PT Rekayasa Industri as contractors, and the agreement for ADB's loan for the construction of micro hydroppower plant (PLTMH) Lobong, North Sulawesi (2 x 0.8 MW), PLTMH Mongango in Gorontalo (1 x 1.2 MW) and PLTMH Merasap, West Kalimantan (2 x 0.75 MW). These micro hydro power plant projects will be built by ADHI, CNTIC, LAPI Joint Operation and PT Adhi Karya, with a total investment of about $9.2 million.

Other agreements to be signed by the public utility are the power purchase agreements between PLN and a number of independent power producers for the development of a number of power plants outside Java, including
? PLTU Tanjung Balai in Riau with a capacity of 2 x 6 MW
? PLTU Lampung Tengah, Lampung with a capacity of 2 x 6 MW
? PLTU Kalianda, Lampung with a capacity of 2 x 6 MW
? PLTU Kuala Tanjung, North Sumatra, with a capacity of 2 x 112.5 MW
? PLTU Celukan Bawang, Bali with a capacity of 1 x 380 MW
? PLTU Banyuasin, Palembang with a capacity of 2 x 112.5 MW
? PLTMH Parluasan, North Sumatra with a capacity of 2 x 21.1 MW
? PLTMH Telun Berasap, Jambi with a capacity of 2 x 3 MW
? PLTMH Ranteballa, South Sulawesi with capacity of 2 x 1.2 MW. (godang)
