?The loan agreements will be signed on Friday this week,? said PLN?s president director Fahmi Mochtar in Jakarta Wednesday.
The development of the five power plants is part of the government?s crash-program to build coal-fired power plants able to generate 10,000 megawatts (MW) by 2009.
He didn not specify the five power plants but Yogo Pratomo, the head the government?s Task Force for the Acceleration of 10,000 MW Development Program, said the five power plant projects were all located in Java, namely the 2x315 MW Labuan power plant in Banten, the 3x330 MW Indramayu power plant in West Java, the 2x215 Rembang power plant in Central Java, the 1 x 625 MW Suralaya power plant in Banten and 1x660 Paiton power plant in East Java.
He said the fixed amount of the loans and the interest rate would be announced by the Ministry of Finance as the underwriter of the loan during the ceremony to sign the loan agreements.
?Data per March 2008 shows that the amount of funds needed to build the five coal fired power plant projects reach Rp5.71 trillion,? he said.
He explained that out of the Rp 5.71 trillion loans, Rp 740 billion would be used to build the Suralaya power plant, Rp 600 billion for the Paiton power plant, Rp 1.27 trillion for the Indramayu power plant, 1.19 trillion for the Labuan power plant and Rp 1.91 trillion for the Rembang power plant.
The loans will be provided by Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BCA and Bank Mega, he said.(godang)
