PLN to sign LoI for power plant projects outside Java

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is set to sign letter of intentd (LoI) with investors interested in 10 coal-fired power plant projects outside Java, Investor Daily reported Tuesday.

PLN’s Director for Power Plant and Primary Energy Ali Herman Ibrahim said in Jakarta Monday that bidders of eight of the ten power plant projects were ready to sign the LoI, while bidders of two other projects - the Kendari coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 2 x 15 MW and the North Sumatra coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 2 x 200 MW – were in the process of completing the required document.

The 10 power plant projects were part of the 25 power plants to be built outside Java as part of the government's plan to provide additional power supply of 10,000 megawatt.

PLN has decided to retender the 10 power plant projects due to the lack of response from investors. The bidding process for the other 15 projects is in progress. (*)
