PLN to sign PPAs of 37 power plant projects in H1 2016

State-owned electricity company PT PLN aims to sign power purchase agreements (PPAs) of 37 power plant projects with combined capacity of 15,533 MW in the first half (H1) of this year.
Nicke Widyawati, PLN's Corporate Planning Director said Wednesday that the projects, both to be developed by PLN and independent power producers, are part of the government?s 35,000 MW capacity power plant projects to be developed until 2019.
"We promised the government to sign about 15,533 MW up to June 2016 with the total of 37 projects," she said, adding that currently about 8,368 MW (19 projects) have entered the procurement process stage.
Nicke revealed that last year PLN signed PPAs for projects with the total capacity of 9780 MW. "Now we have the challenge for signing (more than) 15,000 MW in half year," he said.
