PLN to sign six PPAs this month

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is expected to sign this month six power purchase agreements (PPAs) for planned coal mine mouth power plant projects in Sumatra and Kalimantan with combined capacity of 1,500 MW.

This was said by PLN President Director Sofyan Basir over the weekend, but did not disclose the name of the projects and their developers. ?The signing (of the PPAs) will be made in June, the total capacity is 1,500 MW,? he said.

The latest 2017-2026 Electricity Procurement Business Plan (RUPTL) of PLN envisages the development of a total of 7,300 MW coal mine mouth power plants, comprising of 1,600 MW in Kalimantan, and 5,390 MW in Sumatra.

There are nine mouth power plant projects to be procured in Sumatra including Sumsel-1 with capacity of 300 MW, Banyuasin 240 MW, Sumbagsel-1 300 MW, Riau-1 600 MW, Sumsel-6 600 MW, Sumatra-1 600 MW, Sumset MT (expansion) 350 MW, Jambi 1,200 MW, and Sumsel-8 1,200 MW.

In Kalimantan there will be seven coal mine mouth power plant projects including Kalselteng 3, Kalselteng 4, Kalselteng 5, Kaltim 3, Kaltim 5, and Kaltim 6, each with capacity of 200 MW, and Kaltimra project with capacity of 400 MW.
