PLN to sign this month PPAs of nine power plant projects

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to sign this month power purchase agreements (PPAs) with independent power producers (IPPs) on planned nine renewable-based power plant projects with combined capacity of 640.65 MW.

?It (the PPAs) will be signed this month, the exact date is not yet clear, but for certain it will be in November,? said PLN Director of Strategic Procurement I, Nicke Widyawati on Thursday.

The nine projects are Rantau Dadap geothermal power plant (PLTP) project in South Sumatra owned by PT Supreme Energy with capacity of 86 MW, hydro power plant (PLTA) project in Poso, Central Sulawesi, with total capacity of 515 MW owned by PT Poso Energy, and the reamindrs are seven micro hydro power plant (PLTMH) projects scattered in West Java, East Java, Gorontalo, North Sumatra, and East Nusa Tenggara provinces.

?The PLTMH have small capacity of less than 10 MW,? she said, adding that part of the nine power plant projects will start operation this year, while others in 2021.
