State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to slightly increase electricity tariff by an average of Rp 8 per kWh this month for 12 customer categories.

PLN President Director Sofyan Basir was quoted by Kontan.co.id as saying Thursday that the tariff increase is made following a rise in the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) in May, but said that it would not cause much burden to the customers.

PLN?s electricity tariff is adjusted in line with changes in three factors including ICP, inflation rate, and exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar. (*)
