State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is making preparations to soon hold tender to select EPC contractor to continue the development of a 2x25 MW coal-fired power plant (PLTU) project in Sampit, Central Kalimantan Province.

?The tender will probably be held in June or July this year,? said Head of Construction Division for Kalimantan region at PLN, Hariyadi K. to Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

The Sampit PLTU project is among of stalled power plant projects taken over by PLN which will continue their construction. ?When it (the project) was suspended it had reached design and early construction phase. Construction progress had reached about 30 percent when it was suspended. The tender must soon be implemented so that the power plant can start operation in 2019 as targeted,? Hariyadi said.

He said that coal requirement for the power plant is estimated at around 280,000 tons per year.
