State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said it is scheduled to start the operation of the Jungkat mobile power plant (MPP) with total capacity of 100 MW in West Kalimantan Province at the end of this month.
?It (the MPP) is expected to start operation at the end of November,? said Ricky Cahya Andrian, a manager at PLN West Kalimantan branch office, on Monday.
He said that the operation of the 4x25 MW MPP will increase the power supply in the province.
The 4x25 MW MPP is part of the government?s program to build a total of 35,000 MW power plants over a five-year period until 2019. The MPP will use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel. Once completed, it will raise PLN?s supply capacity in the province to 425 MW. As of the end of December of last year, peak load in the province reached 325 MW. The province will thus have a reserve of 100 MW or about 30 percent.
