State electricity company PT PLN said it plans to source gas from South Sembakung field within Simenggaris block in East Kalimantan, which is developed by joint operating body (JOB) Pertamina-Medco, to match gas needs of mini liquefied natural gas or compressed natural gas plants that will be developed in eastern Indonesia regions.
?We don?t know yet when the joint operating body Pertamina and Medco could deliver the gas, but we have submitted the request in June-July last year,? M. Suryadi Mardjoeki, Division Head for fuel and gas procurement of PT PLN told Petromindo.com.
Gas production at the South Sembakung gas field was estimated to reach 30 mmscfd. Part of the gas production will also be supplied to Tanah Tidung regency.
The gas sales agreement has not been signed yet. Suryadi noted PLN has also submitted the request to the upstream authority BPMIGAS about its plan.
