State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to start construction of a 500 kV extra high voltage substation in Tambun (GITET Tambun), Bekasi, in early 2018, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.
The GITET Tambun is one of the seven substations to be developed by PLN as part of the Jakarta loop project worth Rp 10 trillion to bolster capacity of the power network in anticipation of higher power demand in Jakarta and surrounding areas in the next 5-6 years.
The paper quoted Murtaqi Syamsuddin, Business Director for West Java region at PLN, as saying that the company has been making preparations to start construction of the GITET Tambun in February or early March of next year.
?We?re accelerating the development of electricity infrastructures including power plants, transmissions and substations. From Kembangan (West Jakarta) will be linked with Duri Kosambi, Muara Karang, Muara Tawar until Tambun. This is part of the Jakarta loop project,? he said.
PLN has earlier started construction of the Duri Kosambi and Lengkong substations under the Jakarta loop project. Construction of the entire project is targeted to be completed within 3-4 years. (*)
