PLN to start operation of Papua coal-fired power plant end June

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is scheduled to start the operation of the first unit of a 2x10 MW coal-fired power plant in Holtekamp, Jayapura, Papua province at the end of June, Antara Papua reported Wednesday.

General Manager of PLN Papua and West Papua regional office, Yohanes Sukrislismono said that the electricity from the new power plant will end the current power crisis in Jayapura.

Installed capacity in Jayapura currently stands at 68 MW, while peak load at 75 MW, he added. (*)
