State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed a MoU on Monday with PT Dinamika Sejahtera Mandiri on electricity supply for the latter company?s planned alumina smelter in Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan.
Dinamika plans to start construction of the smelter next year in the hope it would be completed in 2020. The 2 million tons per annum alumina smelter will process bauxite ores into alumina, a raw material for the production of aluminum. PLN will supply 150 MVA of electricity to the smelter.
?After a number of power plant projects in West Kalimantan reached COD (commercial operation date) status, it is expected to be followed with increasing electricity sales to industries and businesses,? said General Manager of PLN West Kalimantan office, Richard Safkaur.
Dinamika Director Peng Tjoan said that the electricity supply from PLN benefits his company as it will not have to develop own power plant. ?The cooperation with PLN benefits investors. PLN is the export in the area of electricity. So, we can focus on other areas,? he said.
PLN also signed MoU on Tuesday on electricity supply to real estate developer PT Kurnia Jaya Raya (KJR), which plans to develop shopping malls, apartments and houses in Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, construction of which expected to start next year and will be completed in 2023.
