PLN to takeover stalled coal-fired power plant project in Maluku

State Minister of State Owned Enterprises Rini M. Soemarno said that state-owned electricity firm PLN will take over the development of a stalled coal-fired power plant project in Waai Village, Salahatu District, Maluku Tengah Regency, Maluku Province.
Kompas quoted Rini as saying that PLN will also expand the capacity of the power plant from the initial plan of 2x15 MW to 4x15 MW to supply electricity in the region.
She was speaking to reporters during a visit to the site of the project on Tuesday.
Kompas said that PT Saktimas Mulia, the original owner of the project, could not complete construction of the power plant due to financial difficulties. The company was supposed to complete the Rp 800 billion project in 2011. (*)
