State electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) said that it would put to tender two mine-mouth power plant projects in Sumatra with combined capacity of 1,200MW in March.
PLN Director Nasri Sebayang said the power plants would be located in Lahat, South Sumatra with capacity of 2x300 MW and another one with similar capacity in Riau province, Central Sumatra.
The power plants would be built on IPP basis, he said, adding that the power produced would supply Sumatra electricity grid.
The power plants would start operations in 2014, he said.
The two power plant projects are not part of power plant development crash program, he said. (bernard)
