The government has asked state owned electricity company PLN to immediately announce the company's operating cost structure to the public so that the people will understand why it needed to increase its tariff for every three months, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Saturday.
"PLN's request to increase electricity tariff has always been approved but the people are not informed aboutthe operating cost of its power plants," Director General of Electricity Luluk Sumarsono said in a discussion held in Makassar, recently.
He said that his office had asked PLN to complete its operating cost structure and then disclose it to the public before the company announced another power price increase. "The public wants to know whether or not PLN is efficient," he added.
Meanwhile PLN's president Eddy Widiono promised that the company would immediately complete the calculation of the company's operating cost structure. But he did not know when the cost structure would be announced. (*)
