PLN told to develop relay station in W. Kalimantan

The Office of the State Minister of State Owned Enterprises has asked state-owned electricity firm PT PLN to develop a 150 kilo volt power relay station in Bengkayang, West Kalimantan, Kontan reported.

The paper quoted PLN President Director Nur Pamudji as saying, however, that the company was still waiting for the approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for the project particularly with regards to funding.

The relay station project is crucial to help realized a planned electricity export and import between Indonesia and neighboring Malaysia. PLN last year has completed the construction of a 60 Km transmission line, and is in the process of developing another 70 km line to reach the Kalimantan border area with Malaysia?s Serawak. (*)
