PLN told to quickly submit RUPTL for approval

Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jarman, warned state-owned electricity firm PT PLN to submit to the ministry the revised electricity procurement business plans (also known as RUPTL) by May 20 at the latest for approval.

Jarman was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying Monday that if PLN fails to meet the deadline, the ministry will formulate the RUPTL, and PLN is obliged to realize the plan.

?I have sent a letter on May 12, telling the PLN directors to submit the (revised) RUPTL by May 20 at the latest,? he said.

The RUPTL is normally submitted to the ministry early in the year, but it remains unclear as to why PLN has delayed the completion of the document.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said has also earlier warned PLN to quickly submit the revised RUPTL as part of efforts to attract private investors in participating in the development of the planned 35,000 MW power plant projects which are targeted to be completed in 2019. (*)
