PLN top officials visit China?s solar panel manufacturer

Top officials of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, led by President Director Sofyan Basir, visited on December 5 China?s solar panel manufacturer, Dongfang Huanseng Photovoltaic (Jiansu).

PLN said in a statement obtained Friday that the visit was part of a study tour made by the utility firm in a bid to seek for power plant technology with competitive price.

The company said that getting technology with competitive price will in turn help ensure lower tariff of electricity produced from power plants in the country. This will in turn help reduce the PLN electricity supply cost, which will help provide affordable electricity for consumers.

PLN said that it is determined to develop more solar power plants in the country as part of efforts to help meet the government?s target for renewables to account for 23 percent of the country?s energy mix by 2025. The company is also determined to make sure that the electricity produced will be affordable to its customers.
