State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has requested for the entire power output produced by the 2x30 MW coal-fired power plant in Tanjung, South Kalimantan, operated by PT Makmur Wisesa Sejahtera (MSW), a subsidiary of IDX-listed coal giant PT Adaro Energy Tbk.
?Electricity from the power plant developed by MSW was designed to be 100 percent used for own requirement. But now it will be entirely used by PLN,? said Adaro President Director and Chief Operating Officer, Garibaldi Tohir on Wednesday.
He said that the company has decided to prioritize supply for PLN to meet growing demand in the region as internal requirement is not yet urgent.
According to Adaro?s website, the first 30 MW unit of the Tanjung power plant was commissioned in 2013.
He said that MSW will accelerate the development of the planned 2x100 MW coal-fired power plant located in the same area.
