PLN wants to buy gas from Benggala well

State-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to purchase gas to be produced at the Benggala well in Langkat, North Sumatra. The company is ready to start price negotiation process with the operator of the well, PT Pertamina EP.

?I want to buy gas from Benggala, whatever the volume is,? Head of Gas and Fuel Division at PLN, Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com Wednesday.

According to the recent drill steam test, the Benggala gas well is estimated to have a production rate of 7 mmscfd.

Meanwhile, President Director of Pertamina EP, Syamsu Alam said that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and upstream authority SKK Migas hold the authority in allocating the gas from the well. ?We?re ready to follow up what ever the decision (of the two aforementioned institutions) will be,? he said.

He said that his company is currently making preparations to carry out put on production program at the Benggala well.
