PLN wants to repurchase gas from Singapore

State-electricity firm PLN plans to repurchase 100 bbtud of gas produced in Indonesia but has been sold to Singapore in a bid to help resolve the gas shortage problem faced by its power plant, Investor Daily reported on Friday.
PLN President Director Dahlan Iskan said that the company has to take such measure although it would economically benefit Singapore. ?We have made a decision and it?s a pure business interest for PLN. We have made an offer to repurchase gas which has been channeled to Singapore,? he said during a hearing session with members of the House of Representatives Commission VII on energy on Thursday.
He said that the gas was initially dedicated for PLN?s Muara Tawar plant, but was suddenly diverted to Singapore at a price of US$17 per mmbtu. He did not provide details. (*)
