State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that it will sign the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a waste to energy power plant project in Surabaya, East Java, this month.
Syah Darwin Siregar, PLN's Head of New and Renewable Energy Division told Petromindo.com recently that the project has a capacity of 10 Megawatt, comprising of 2 MW using sanitary landfill technology and 8 MW using zero waste technology.
"Currently, the project is on the construction phase, while the PPA is also on process and is expected to be signed in September 2015," he said, adding that the price in the PPA will be based on the feed in tariff regulation issued by the government.
Syah Darwin added that the project is the result of a cooperation between Surabaya city administration and a private developer, but fell short of disclosing the name of the private firm. The project has investment value of around US$ 3 million per MW.
