PLN, Wilmar sign electricity sale, purchase agreement

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN will supply 60 MVA of electricity to palm oil-based bio fuel producer PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia at the Dumai Industry Estate in Riau Province.

The two companies signed on Wednesday the electricity sale and purchase letter.

PLN Business Director for Sumatra Region, Wiluyo Kusdwiharto said that to facilitate the supply of the electricity, the utility firm is currently developing a 27-km 150 kV extra high voltage transmission line from the Dumai substation, the construction of which is expected to be completed in the first semester of next year.

He said that Wilmar, which is developing a palm oil downstream production facility at the industry estate, will become PLN?s largest consumer in Riau.
