State-owned electricity firm PT PLN said that two units of the 4x25 MW PLTG Gorontalo gas-fired power plant in Gorontalo had started operation on January 16 and began supplying power to the Gorontalo-North Sulawesi power grid.

PLN said in a statement Saturday that the gas-fired power plant project, which is part of the 35,000 MW power plant projects targeted by the government to be completed until 2019, utilizes the TM 2500+ turbine manufactured by General Electric (GE) plant in Hungary.

The four turbines arrived in Gulf of Tomini, Gorontalo, on November 17, and were quickly transported to Marisa, in Pohuwato Regency, for installation at the power plant project, the statement explained, but did not say when the other two units will be completed.
