State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) plans to take LNG from the Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan for its gas turbine power plant in Maleo village, Paguat district, Pohuwato regency, Gorontalo province.

The 4x25 MW PLTG Gorontalo, which came into full operation last January, now uses high speed diesel as fuel due to the non-existence of gas supply. The project is the first among the 35,000 MW power projects to come into operation.

PLN?s Manger of Strategic Procurement Planning Riza Affandi told Petromindo.com that PLN is designing facilities that will enable the power plant to receive LNG, including storage and jetty. LNG supply from Bontang is expected to start in 2017.

He also said in the future, the power plant will receive gas from Wasambo (Walanga-Sampi Sampi- Bonge) fields within Sengkang PSC.
