State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has changed the tender terms of the PLTG Jawa-1 gas-fired power plant project, requiring the winning bidder to use gas from the Tangguh plant in Papua.

Ginanjar, Head of the Pertamina consortium participating in the power plant tender, lamented the move by PLN to change the gas supply requirement when the tender process has already started. He said that PLN should have made the decision early on. He said that Pertamina has already spent US$1.5 million in making initial feasibility of the study.

He added that if PLN had decided early on that the project must supply the gas from Tangguh, Pertamina would not have to include Total in the consortium.

Pertamina is teaming up with Marubeni Corp and Total & Gas Power in the tender for the Jawa-1 gas-fired power plant project.
