PLTG Senipah set to start operation in May

State owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) expects PLTG Senipah gas fired power plant in East Kalimantan will be able to begin commercial production in May this year, or three months behind the original schedule, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.

Ismail Deu, the area manager of PLN?s office in Samarinda, said the state electricity company was still negotiating the acquisition for the land to be used to build a transmission facility to connect the new power plant with the existing power grid.

He said that the electricity from PLTG Senipah would increase the power supply for the distribution networks which cover three regencies in East Kalimantan including Balikpapan Samarinda and Tenggarong.

PLTG Senipah, which is built by Toba Bara Sejahtera in cooperation with PLN, will be connected to the Mahakam inter-connection system through the Manggar Mahakam main distribution center. (*)
